Artist Bio

Rochelle Morris (b.1994) is an emerging artist from Dharawal land (Wollongong, Australia) of mixed descent. Morris predominantly creates ephemeral installations with plants to explore decomposition, the life cycles of materials, and the constant intra-activity of matter. Her practice blurs the boundaries between painting, sculpture, drawing, and installation while engaging with plant pulp, earth pigments, mycelium, and found building materials. Via entangling organic, non-human matter with human-made materials, she aims to challenge hierarchies, extractive economies, and colonial systems that perpetuate environmental collapse.
In 2023, Morris graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours, from the Victorian College of the Arts. In 2024, she was awarded the Future Leaders Award and the James Lemon Award for Excellence at Craft Victoria’s annual Fresh exhibition.
